ABOUT THE CONFERENCE


IMESA (Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa) promotes the interests of municipal engineers and their profession with the aim of expanding the knowledge and best practices in all Local Government municipalities.

For the 2020 Conference the institute will host its first JOINT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE with IAWEES (the International Association of Water, Environment, Energy and Society). IAWEES is an international non-profit organization set up to promote research and develop processes and technologies for Empowering the Society for Water, Environment and Energy Sustainability. The organization was founded in 2016 by the representatives of Universities/Government Organizations/Research Institutes/Industries from various countries, including India, USA, Canada, Australia, The Netherlands, Japan, Hong Kong, UK, South Africa, Kenya, Romania, Egypt, Malaysia, China, Brazil, Tunisia, France, and Poland.

The annual conference creates opportunities for individuals to gain valuable information and insight into issues facing the municipal engineering fraternity including the presentation of topical papers, product exhibitions and an opportunity to share and discuss ideas with like-minded engineers, municipal representatives and non-technical associates. Papers presented are from a wide spectrum of engineering fields.
