    Ordinary / Individual Membership

  • Ordinary/Individual membership shall be open to any person engaged in any aspect of water, environment, energy and social sciences and its application or interested in the objectives of the Association and possesses or is acquiring qualifications in related fields.
  • Ordinary/Individual Membership Comprises:

    • a). Student
    • b). Associate Member
    • c). Member
    • d). Fellow
    • e). Distinguished Member
    • f). Honorary Member
    • g). Corporate Member
  • For Ordinary/Individual Membership the following Conditions Apply:

    Student

  • Applications for this grade shall be accepted from B. Sc. students in the last year of the university degree as well as students pursuing M. Sc. in one of the fields of specialization of the association. The applicant should be nominated by a member of the association. Student membership could be upgraded on application to associate membership on attaining a higher degree
  • Associate Member

  • Applications for this grade shall be accepted from all who have an M. Sc. in a field of the association. Associate Membership could be upgraded to Ordinary/Individual Membership if Associate Members obtain a higher degree (Ph.D.).
  • Member

  • Applications for this grade shall be accepted from all who have a Ph.D. in a field of the association. This membership forms the main body of the association. It should be more than 50% of the total number of the all membership.

  • Fellow

  • Applications for this grade shall be invited through nominations only. The nominations may be filed by the established academics / researchers in the field, with at least two (or three) support letters from established academics or researchers. The nominated established academics, researchers, or practitioners in the field of water, environment, energy and social sciences (WEES) shall become Fellow of the Association upon approval by the President. The total number of Fellows selected in a given year may not exceed about 1% of the total number of members in IAWEES.

  • Distinguished Member

  • A nominated internationally renowned academic, researcher or practitioner in the field of water, environment, energy and social sciences (WEES) shall become a Distinguished Member of the Association upon approval of the President. There will be only one Distinguished Member selected in a given year.

  • Honorary Member

  • Individual members and institutional members, as well as individuals and entities outside IAWEES, may be awarded Honorary Membership, upon the unanimous recommendation of the Executive Committee and endorsed by a two-thirds majority of the Governing Council in a ballot in the year preceding the biennial congress. Not more than three Honorary Members from among the IAWEES membership and one from outside IAWEES may be elected in a given biennial cycle.

  • Corporate Member

  • Corporate Membership to the Corporate Sector shall be given upon the unanimous recommendation of the International Executive Committee. Applications for this grade shall be invited from the Corporate Sectors dealing with any sector of water science & engineering, environmental science & engineering, energy science & engineering, social sciences and their practical applications.
